Though Ashura was originally a virtue god for live and spirit, he has been treated as a kind of fierce god since he was adapted into Buddhism. He is one of the members of Hachibushuu; built an Ashura-temple in Mt.Sumisen. He always fights with Taishsaku Ten. There are various forms. The deity with three faces and six arms made in Tenpyo era. The one enshrined in Koufukuji-temple is famous.
