Bosatsu

Hachiman Daibosatsu

He is also called Zoukei Hachiman, worshipped in Hatomine in Joshuu(present Shizuoka) as Hachiman Daimyojin of the Thirty Guardians. He is the spirit of the Emperor Oujin and the main image of Amida Nyorai. The Thirty Guardians were told to protect nyohoudou(place for Buddhism training) everyday of a month by turns for people given Hoke Kyo(Lotsu Sutra) when nyohoudou was built in Mt. Hiei in the era of Emperor Junwa, on the contrary, for people being trained in the perfect state of spiritual concentration by Hoke Kyo(Lotus Sutra) in the era of Emperor Gosanjou.
