Chinese Buddhism has had the four sacred places since the ancient times. Each of the founders of the four sacred places is drawn in these pictures. The mountains are Mt. Wutai in Shanxi, (Monju Bosatsu), Mt. Emei Scenic in Sichuan (Fugen Bosatsu) Mt. Jiuhuashan in Anhui (Jizou Bosatsu) Mt. Putou in Zhejiang (Kannon Bosatsu).
